SBS

SBS world news, report on the story was similar to most news networks putting a little bit more emphasis on the opposition having wanted Mr. Campbell to step down from duty “Mr Campbell has been under pressure to resign on numerous occasions this year, most recently for his handling of accident on the F3 north of Sydney which left motorists stranded for hours. The opposition has also called for him to stand down over the tens of millions lost on the scrapped CBD Metro.”

Being a larger broadcasting I would have expected them to employ a journalist to follow up the story. They however sourced their news from the Australian Associated Press which is also owned by Murdoch. The network is 80% funded by the Australian government and 20% by advertisers. The reason to this could be due to their being what Brüggemann and Schulz-Forberg (696) call a “National media with a transnational mission” hence they have a wider concentration on world news as opposed to gossip news. As Klein defines scandal to be for the public, the general public that SBS targets is the world at large and hence only a selective group of people (mostly Australians) are more likely to read the story.
